Bridgeport Islanders News Release
BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, skated to the second scoreless tie in team history Saturday at home versus the Philadelphia Phantoms just over a month after doing so for the first time ever on March 6th at home versus the Hartford Wolf Pack. With the tie, Philadelphia clinched the East Division Championship while the Sound Tigers are locked into second place and will face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the East Division Semifinals of the 2004 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Sound Tigers Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz made 28 saves to re-set his own single-season team record and tie the all-time AHL single-season rookie mark with his ninth shutout. The AHL Rookie of the Year is also all but assured of breaking the all-time single-season League record with a 1.38 goal against average. Dubielewicz is 20-8-5 with a .946 save percentage in 33 games with the Sound Tigers and 1-0-1 in his first two NHL games with the Islanders this year.
Phantoms Netminder Neil Little stopped 25 shots Saturday for his sixth shutout of the season.
Dubielewicz was the first star of the game, Little the second, and Luke Curtin of the Sound Tigers the third. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 8 on the power play while Philadelphia was 0 for 6 and had a 28-25 shots on goal advantage.
