P-Bruins, Worcester play to scoreless tie
April 10, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins and Worcester IceCats wrapped up their 10-game season series on Saturday night in Worcester, with the Black and Gold winding up with the first scoreless decision in the 12-year history of the franchise. The Bruins are now 36-28-11-4 (87 points), putting them in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, one point behind Worcester.
The Bruins can still move past Worcester and clinch the third seed in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins need to win their regular season finale on Sunday afternoon in Hartford, while the IceCats must gain only one or no points at Manchester. If both scenarios occur, the Bruins will clinch the third seed in the division.
Bruin goaltender Tim Thomas stopped all 38 shots he faced, for his franchise single-season record ninth shutout of the season. He is 20-15-6 on the year. Thomas is the franchise career leader with 10 shutouts in 77 games. Saturday night marked the third time this season that he has posted back-to-back shutouts.
The Bruins conclude the regular season on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. in Hartford. The game will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550.
The Bruins will announce their playoff game dates on Monday, April 12.
