BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Dec. 10, 2011) - Brett MacLean scored twice and Curtis McElhinney made 29 saves as the Portland Pirates came from behind to defeat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-2 at Webster Bank Arena on Saturday night. With the win, Portland improves to 12-10-1-1. The Sound Tigers fall to 11-10-3-1.

The Sound Tigers took an early 2-0 lead courtesy of their power play. Scott Howes scored his fifth goal of the season 8:59 into the opening frame on a rebound to put the Sound Tigers on the board, and Jeremy Colliton's seventh goal of the season on a rebound at 14:46 pushed the Sound Tigers lead to two. Anders Nilsson stopped all 11 shots he faced in the opening frame, and Bridgeport carried their 2-0 lead into the second period.

Portland cut the deficit to one midway through the middle frame. The Pirates took advantage of tic-tac-toe passing on an odd-man rush as Brock Trotter scored his fifth goal of the season at 12:47 of the second period to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Sound Tigers.

The Pirates evened the score just 32 seconds into the third period on the power play as Patrick O'Sullivan's point shot caromed off the left post, but MacLean found the rebound to tie the score at two . Nathan Oystrick's fluke goal 4:18 later proved to be the game-winner. Oystrick fired from the left point off of Sound Tiger forward Blair Riley's stick in the high slot. The puck fluttered in the air through traffic in the slot past Nilsson who never saw it to give Portland the 3-2 lead. MacLean added his second tally of the game on an empty-netter with 1:07 left in regulation to close out the scoring.

The Sound Tigers return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to the MassMutual Center to face the Springfield Falcons at 3:00 p.m.
