Pens Win Eighth in a Row in Hershey, Down Bears 4-2

Eric Tangradi and Bryan Lerg scored within the first four minutes of the third period to break a 1-1 deadlock, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins went on to post a 4-2 win over the Hershey Bears at the Giant Center on Saturday night.
The victory was the eighth in a row for the Penguins in Hershey, and upped Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's record to 14-7-1-4 on the season, good for 33 points and first place in the East Division. The Bears fell to 13-7-3-2.
The win was all the more impressive due to the continuing roster rotation in Wilkes-Barre. Forward Jason Williams became the most recent Pittsburgh recall when Jordan Staal was ruled out of the NHL squad's game with the New York Islanders. And defenseman Joey Mormina missed his first game of the season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, being replaced by the recently-signed Peter Merth on the blueline.
Bad blood from the teams' previous meeting two weeks ago in Wilkes-Barre boiled over early in the first frame, with Ryan Schnell and Joel Rechlicz dropping the gloves. That was all of the action from the opening stanza, as neither team could find the back of the net.
Ryan Potulny opened the scoring seven minutes into the second period, beating Pens netminder Scott Munroe for his seventh goal of the season.
Ben Street countered four minutes later with his eighth goal of the year, and the 1-1 tie held through the end of the period.
It was all Penguins from there, with Tangradi capitalizing on a Bears turnover and Lerg slamming home a Colin McDonald feed from the slot to give the visitors a 3-1 lead with 16 minutes to play.
McDonald was credited with his sixth of the season when Graham Mink knocked the empty net off it's base to make it 4-1, before Tomas Kundratek tallied with the extra attacker on the ice.
Munroe stopped 34 shots to post his fourth win of the season, and saw his goals against average fall to 2.14.
The win was the third in the past four games for the Penguins, and snapped a four-game Bears winning streak.
