Haydar Earns 700th Career Point in Wolves 4-2 Win

ROSEMONT, Ill.---Chicago Wolves right wing Darren Haydar became the 22ndplayer in American Hockey League history to record 700 career points and the Wolves snapped a five-game winless streak with a 4-2 Amtrak Rivalry win over the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday night at the Allstate Arena.
Haydar (G, A) and defenseman Chris Tanev (3A) paced the offense for the Wolves, who also snapped a three-game winless streak on home ice.
"When you haven't won in a while, it becomes difficult to get a victory" said Wolves head coach Craig MacTavish. "It was nice to get a win tonight, especially in front of our home crowd."
Chicago (10-9-1-3) jumped on the scoreboard while on the power play 4:33 into the game when Tanev fed defenseman Sebastian Erixon at the top of the far circle. Erixon ripped a one-timer past Admirals goaltender Atte Engren.
The Wolves doubled their lead while short-handed at 14:12. Right wing Victor Oreskovich picked up a loose puck at the Admirals blue line, skated in on a two-on-one and snapped a shot over Engren's shoulder on the stick side.
Milwaukee (14-7-0-1) cut the Wolves lead to 2-1 at 16:03. Defenseman Scott Valentine's shot from the point was redirected by center Joel Champagne in front of the crease and over the glove of Chicago netminder Matt Climie.
The Wolves reclaimed their two-goal lead when defenseman Kevin Connauton wristed a shot through Engren's legs on the power play at 18:04 of the opening frame.
Engren (2-3-0) posted six saves on nine shots in 20 minutes of action before being replaced by Jeremy Smith at the start of the second period.
Chicago inched ahead 4-1 at 18:10 of the second period when Haydar controlled the puck in the top of the far circle and slipped a shot under Smith's pads.
Smith stopped 14 of 15 shots in 39:28 of relief duty.
Milwaukee closed within 4-2 just 1:19 into the third period when right wing Taylor Beck walked into the far circle and flicked a shot past a screened Climie.
Climie (7-4-0) posted 31 saves in the win.
The Wolves return to action at 3 p.m. Sunday against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Allstate Arena.
