Four second period goals in the span of 6:46 cost the Sound Tigers, as they lost 6-3 to the Binghamton Senators at Arena at Harbor Yard Wednesday night. Trevor Smith scored a power-play and shorthanded goal and Olivier Labelle scored his first of the season.

Smith's opened the scoring with a power-pay goal coming after Sean Bentivoglio made a centering-pass from the half-boards that the 6'1" center snapped into a gapping net for his 12th goal of the season. Sertich picked up his sixth assist of the season after making the initial pass from the blue-line to Bentivoglio.

Binghamton's Matt Carkner tied the score at 1-1 with just over 4:01 remaining in the first period. Carkner's shot deflected off the skate of a player in front and slipped between Mike Morrison's pads. Niko Dimitrakos and Justin Mapletoft assisted on the goal.

Early in the second, the Senators grabbed a 2-1 lead on a Dimitrakos goal at the 1:10 mark. Mapletoft took a pass from Ilya Zubov below the goal-line and fed the puck through the top of the crease to Dimitrakos, stationed at the far post for the goal.

Carkner scored his second of the game five minutes later as his shot beat Morrison through a screen to give the Binghamton a two-goal advantage. The tally came after the Sound Tigers' goalie made a series of saves while the Senators were swarming the net.

15 seconds later, Binghamton added to their lead as Danny Bois scored his second of the season.

The Senators made it 5-1 when they scored their fourth goal in just over six and a half minutes. Josh Hennessy put a loose puck into the back of the net during a scrum in front of Morrison. Jeremy Yablonski and Jim McKenzie were credited with assists after both helped move the puck deep into the offensive zone.

Labelle scored his first goal of the season 1:06 into the third period when collected a rebound off a Sertich shot and buried the puck over Elliot's shoulder, making the score 5-2.

Smith scored his second of the game while the Sound Tigers were shorthanded at the 15:13 mark of the third period. Kyle Okposo deflected a breakout pass away from a Senators' defensemen onto the stick of Smith who turned and fired a snap-shot, to beat Elliot, high glove-side.

The Senators sealed the game with an empty net goal from Hennessy with just over a minute left in the game.

Morrison recorded 33 saves in the game, while Binghamton's Elliot stopped 32 of the 35 shots he saw in the game. The Sound Tigers finished 1-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.

The Sound Tigers will return to the ice on Friday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Philadelphia Phantoms will come to Bridgeport to take on the Sound Tigers at 7 p.m.
