BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, were beaten by the Springfield Falcons at home 3-2 in overtime Saturday night on the strength of Nick Tarnasky's hat trick.

Tarnasky put Springfield up 1-0 when he knocked home his seventh goal of the year at 10:33 of the first period on the power play with assists from Todd Rohloff and Darren Reid.

The Sound Tigers answered back to tie the game 1-1 just 1:52 later with their own power-play goal by Rob Collins, his 18th tally of the season, off assists from Jeff Hamilton and Jeremy Colliton.

Tarnasky gave Springfield the 2-1 lead with exactly 4:00 left in the opening frame when he scored his second goal of the game and eighth of the year with the helpers coming from Dan Cavanaugh and Timo Helbling.

The Sound Tigers tied the game at 2-2 on a power-play goal by Steve Regier, his 13th overall on the year, 3:29 into the second period off feeds from Bruno Gervais and Collins.

"The majority of our chances came in the second period," Sound Tigers head coach Dave Baseggio said. "I felt we carried the play and worked hard."

Neither team could take the lead in the final frame before the game went into overtime.

In the extra session, Tarnasky completed the hat trick and scored his ninth of the year unassisted at 3:08 for the final score of 3-2.
