Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Phantoms nearly erased a 4-1 deficit at Hershey on Saturday night, but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to the Bears that ended the team's five-game winning streak. Jim Campbell sparked the near-comeback with two goals in the third period.

Philadelphia took a 1-0 lead at 7:25 of the opening frame when Campbell fed Stefan Ruzicka behind the Hershey defensemen. Ruzicka skated in and beat Hershey goaltender Frederic Cassivi for the early advantage.

But the Bears tied the game up late in the period with the first of four consecutive tallies. Jared Aulin poked at a puck that was underneath Phantoms starter Jamie Storr until it slid over the line at 19:11. Then in the second period, Hershey benefited from goals by Eric Fehr, Boyd Kane, and a second from Aulin to take a 4-1 lead into the second break.

Campbell began chipping into the Bears lead at 1:19 of the third when he blasted a slapshot from 10 feet inside the Hershey blue line. Then with just two minutes left, Alexandre Picard backhanded a puck in front that Campbell converted to draw the Phantoms within a goal. Despite several late chances, however, Philadelphia could not quite find the equalizer.

Storr took the loss with 20 saves on 24 Hershey shots through the first two periods. Martin Houle came in for the third period and stopped all eight shots he faced. Cassivi made 24 saves on 27 shots to earn the win.

Philadelphia will host Toronto at the Wachovia Spectrum on Sunday at 6:05 in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The first 4,000 kids 14 and under will receive Championship Puzzle Banks courtesy of Wachovia. Also, Elmo will make the trip from Sesame Street to drop the first puck, and a Phantoms win will make each ticket stub good for a free ticket to the March 15 game vs. Hartford. Tickets for both games are still available and can be purchased online at www.phantomshockey.com or by phone at (215) 336-2000, (856) 338-9000 or (302) 984-2000. As always, kids tickets for all Phantoms games are just $8.00.
