BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will take part in a number of community activities this week beginning with the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts tonight at 5 p.m. In addition to tonight's appearance at "The Big E" for "Connecticut Day" festivities, the team mascot Storm will help kickoff the Walk-a-thon at St. Ann School in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport this Friday, September 23rd at 11 a.m., visit the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Chamber Day preceding the Yale "" Cornell football game at the Yale Bowl this Saturday, September 24th at 11:30 a.m. and take part in the Bigelow Tea "Kids' Fun Run" in Southport this Sunday, September 25th from 9 a.m. until 12 noon.

The Sound Tigers will also hold tryouts for their skating entertainment squad, The Ice Girls, this Sunday from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at The Rinks at Shelton. Interested applicants must be at least 18 years of age and should wear fitted clothing during tryouts. Applicants may also bring head shots or have their photograph taken at the tryout.

The Sound Tigers will open training camp in Shelton next Tuesday, September 27th and will begin a three-game preseason schedule by visiting the Hartford Wolf Pack in Simsbury next Wednesday, September 28th at 7 p.m. They will host two preseason games at The Rinks versus the Albany River Rats on Saturday, October 1st at 7 p.m. and Hartford on Monday, October 3rd at 7:30 p.m.

Celebrating their fifth anniversary in Bridgeport as the top affiliate of the Islanders, the Sound Tigers will open the 2005-06 regular season with the first of four straight road games when they visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday, October 5th. Their first home games at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard will be Saturday and Sunday, October 22nd and 23rd when they host the Portland Pirates and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
