
Atlanta assigns four to the Wolves

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned four players to the Chicago Wolves: Chicago native and right wing STEPHEN BABY (BAH-bee), goaltender MICHAEL GARNETT and defensemen JEFF DWYER and JIM SHARROW. Currently, the Wolves have nine players in training camp from last year's 2005 Western Conference Championship roster.
BABY recorded nine points (3G, 6A) and a career-high 115 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Wolves last season. The 25-year-old forward has collected 20 goals, 15 assists, 35 points and 187 penalty minutes in 132 games with Chicago during the past two seasons.
GARNETT posted an 11-9-0 record, a 2.86 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in 24 games with the team last season. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native finished fifth among American Hockey League goaltenders with a .889 shootout save percentage.
DWYER, who saw limited action due to injury, notched two assists in nine games last year with the Wolves.
SHARROW shared fourth among Quebec Major Junior Hockey League defensemen with 16 goals and placed seventh with 47 points in 69 games with the Halifax Mooseheads. The Framingham, Mass., native helped the Mooseheads to the President's Cup Finals with 11 points (5G, 6A) in 13 postseason contests.
Chicago plays its first of three local preseason games against the Peoria Rivermen at the Hoffman Estates Park District Community Center and Ice Arena on Mon., Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. The team's regular season gets underway against the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on Fri., Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. The Wolves open their 40-game home slate against the Manitoba Moose at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.
