Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release
Lowell, MA - The Lowell Spinners (10-8) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (8-10) by a score of 11-5 Tuesday night at LeLacheur Park. 3B Jordan Betts (2-4) put together a two-hit performance that included a double, three RBI's and a run scored. In the bottom of the third inning, Betts hit a bases clearing three-run double that broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Spinners a lead that they would not let go of at 6-3.
The Spinners offense was hot from the start of the game to the end of it. Eight out of their nine batters had at least one hit and all nine reached base at least once. RF Close Sturgeon (2-4) and CF Danny Mars (2-5) each had a pair of hits and two RBI's. The Spinners first six batters were 12-26 with eight RBI's. As a team they scored 11 runs on 14 hits.
In any other game scoring five runs on 10 hits would be about good enough for a win, but because of the Spinners offense catching fire throughout the game and scoring 11 runs, the Tigers offense was not good enough tonight. The Tigers had eight of their nine batters get at least one hit. 3B Joey Pankake (2-5) had a pair of singles along with two RBI's and two runs scored. CF Ross Kivett (2-5) and 1B Jacob Kabstein (1-4) each had an RBI. The Tigers struggles came with runners in scoring position as they were just 2 for 13 and left nine on base.
In game two of their three-game series, Tigers RHP Josh Heddinger (0-0, 0.00) is slated to face off against Lowell's LHP Randy Perez (0-1, 4.00). Pre-game radio coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com .

The Box Office is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, tickets can be purchased over the phone at (860) 887-7962. For more information go online to cttigers.com.
