Solomon Dazzles Again in 9-1 Win for Mustangs

BILLINGS, Montana - The Billings Mustangs (4-8) put an end to their four-game losing streak on Thursday, topping the Helena Brewers (7-6) 9-1 in front of 2,296 at Dehler Park.
For the first time this season, the Mustangs were able to deliver multiple runs in the first inning of play. Brewers starter Justin Bullock (0-2) had trouble finding a rhythm to open the game, allowing four runs on four hits in the first. Dylan Harris, making his first professional start, led off with a double to start the early rally. Harris finished the game 4-for-5 with three runs batted in. Reshard Munroe would also double while Drew Mount singled to collect his 10th RBI of the year. Bren Spillane hit his second homerun of the year, a two-run fly to opposite field.
Jared Solomon (2-0) was once again electric on the mound for Billings. The right-hander from Millville, Pennsylvania, tossed six shutout innings and struck out a season-high seven batters in his third start of the season. Solomon has not allowed a run over his last 12 innings of work and has fanned 10 in that time.
Billings added to their lead in the fifth with an RBI single from Mariel Bautista, his first of two hits on the night. The Mustangs would knock around 13 team hits, two shy of their season-high.
The win is Billings' second at home this season and their first since Saturday when they shut out the Brewers 4-0 in Helena off Solomon's last start.
The Brewers and Mustangs will conclude their brief two-game series Friday at Dehler Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
