Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Todd Czinege had three hits while Reese Berberet and Javier Guevara homered, but it wasn't enough as the Grand Junction Rockies fell to the Idaho Falls Chukars Thursday night 10-6 at Melaleuca Field.

Czinege finished 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Berberet drove home three runs, but after the game was scoreless after an inning, the Chukars scored two in the second and they led the rest of the night.

Guevara's second home run of the season started the third inning, but the Chukars got that run back in their half of the inning on Reed Rohlman's 2-out RBI single. A Berberet fourth inning sacrifice fly brought the Rockies back within one, but the Chukars broke the game open with two runs in their half of the fourth followed by a four run fifth.

The teams traded runs in the sixth to make it 10-3 Chukars, but the Rockies scored the game's final three runs, the first coming on Daniel Montano's seventh inning RBI single, and then Berberet hit a 2-run homer in the eighth. He has now homered four times this season.

The loss drops the Rockies to 6-8 on the season as Alejandro Mejia took the loss, surrendering seven runs, five earned, on nine hits in 4.2 innings. The Chukars tagged Jesse Lepore for three runs in 1.1 innings, but Jared Skolnicki and Rayne Supple kept the Chukars off the board in the game's last two frames.

Coco Montes had a 2-hit night for the Rockies, giving him a 10-game hitting streak and raising his batting average to .436.
