Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Wednesday night at Melaleuca Field, the Grand Junction Rockies matched a season-low with seven hits in a 5-1 loss to the Idaho Falls Chukars.

John Cresto's 2-out ninth inning RBI double kept the Rockies from being shutout for the first time in 2018. His double brought home Niko Decolati, but the game ended when Zach Hall flied out to deep left field as the Rockies fall to 6-7 on the season.

The Rockies had other opportunities to score, but wasted Todd Czinege's leadoff double in the fifth and Hall's leadoff triple in the eighth.

Czinege and Cresto finished with two hits.

The Chukars scored two-out runs in the first and third innings, and in the fourth, Jesus Atencio doubled home a pair off Wander Cabrera who surrendered four runs in four innings. The Chukars scored a run off Reagan Biechler in the fifth, but after he kept them off the board in the sixth, Colton Harlow faced the minimum in his professional debut in the seventh, while Will Tribucher struck out a pair in a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

J.C. Cloney improved to 3-0 for the Chukars thanks to seven scoreless innings.
