Mustangs Swept by Voyagers with 9-1 Loss Wednesday

BILLINGS, Montana - The Billings Mustangs (3-8) were dealt their fourth straight loss on Wednesday, falling 9-1 to the Great Falls Voyagers (6-6) in front of 2,840 at Dehler Park.
Great Falls, for the third straight game, was able to score in the first inning. All three times it would be Ian Dawkins crossing the plate. Dawkins reached on a throwing error, the first of what would be six errors in the game for the Mustangs; a new season-high for errors in a game. Dawkins scored three batters later on the RBI single of Romy Gonzalez. Dawkins has scored seven runs over the last three days for Great Falls.
The Mustangs were able to tie it up in the bottom of the first with their first run in the opening inning of a game this season. Mariel Bautista hit a one-out double and scored on Drew Mount's RBI single. Mount now has a team-high nine RBI in eight games, going 2-for-4 on Wednesday. It was the first time this season the Mustangs have scored before the third.
The score remained tied at 1-1 until the top of the third when Logan Sowers hit a two-run homerun to left, his second homer of the season. That began what would be eight unanswered runs over the last seven innings to give the Voyagers their third straight road win.
Billings had their final 15 batters of the game retired between three pitchers. Greg Minier (0-2) got the win in four shutout innings of relief. He struck out four and allowed only two hits.
With the loss the Mustangs are on their longest losing streak of the season at four and have dropped four straight at home to fall to 1-4 on the season at Dehler Park.
The Mustangs will now begin a two-game series with the Helena Brewers in Billings starting Thursday. First pitch at Dehler Park is set for 7:05 p.m.
