Solar Bears Sign Defenseman Jordan Rowley to ATO

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, have announced the signing of rookie defenseman Jordan Rowley to an Amateur Try-Out Agreement.

Rowley, 25, joins the Solar Bears after wrapping up a five-year collegiate career with the University of Alberta, where the defenseman played 25 games this season, tallying 24 points (6g-18a) and 30 penalty minutes and was the recipient of the Mervyn 'Red' Dutton Trophy as the Canada West Defenceman of the Year for the second time in his career after first receiving the award in the 2013-14 campaign. In 127 career games for the Golden Bears, Rowley logged 91 points (25g-66a) and 148 penalty minutes, and was also a teammate of current Solar Bears rookie forward T.J. Foster from 2013-15.

Prior to playing with the University of Alberta, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound rearguard played major junior hockey from 2005-11 with the Kamloops Blazers and Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League, posting totals of 146 points (29g-117a) and 379 penalty minutes in 312 career games.

The Solar Bears continue their fourth season in the ECHL, presented by Auto Justice Attorney Michael T. Gibson, P.A., when they host the Florida Everblades in a Wawa Sunshine Cup Series game on Wednesday, Mar. 30 at 7:00 p.m.
