Utah Grizzlies News Release

The Situation

The Grizzlies (35-24-3-3) enter the week one point in back of Idaho for first place in the West Division as the two teams will meet for the final time this season Wednesday with the winner ending the night in first place if the game is decided in regulation and at worst a first place tie. Utah entered March 7 trailing the Steelheads by six points in the division.

The Last 6

The Grizzlies are 4-1-0-1 since suffering a 6-2 loss at home to Colorado on March 12. Barry Almeida leads Utah with three goals and five assists in that stretch. Ryan Faragher is 3-1-0-1 with a 2.14 goals-against-average. The Grizzlies have gone 6-22 on the power-play in the last six games for a 27.2-percent clip.

First Goal

The Grizzlies have scored the game's first goal in six-straight contests to improve to 27-5-0-2 and 17-1-0-2 when scoring first.

Shots

Utah held Tulsa to just 58 shots in three games and allowed no more than 22 shots in a game over the week as they allowed only three five-on-five goals in the three-game set.

Ryan Faragher

Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher at 24-12-2-2, already has the second most wins for a Grizzlies goaltender since the 1996-97 season when Mark McArthur had 28 wins and went 28-20-6. Faragher's next win will tie him for the most wins for a Grizzlies goaltender since 1996-97. Faragher is already seventh all-time in wins by a Grizzlies goaltender, with 34, and this season has allowed two goals or less in 19 of 40 starts and one goal or less in 12 of his 40 starts.

March

Alex Krushelnyski has scored in 11 of 12 games during the month of March and has three goals and 10 assists during that stretch.

Leading Goal Scorer

Ryan Hayes leads the Grizzlies with 10 goals since re-signing with the team on February 12. No other Grizzlies player has more than six in that stretch. Hayes has seven goals in the Grizzlies last nine games and nine points (seven goals, two assists) in that stretch.

Higby

Erik Higby had his first two goal game of the season Friday when he scored his 14th and 15th goals of the year as the Grizzlies improved to 13-0-1-0 when he scores.
