Atkinson Signs with Gladiators

DULUTH, GEORGIA - The Atlanta Gladiators announced today that defenseman Josh Atkinson and the team have agreed to terms on a standard professional contract.

Atkinson, 23, joins the Gladiators after concluding his four-year collegiate career at the NCAA's University of Alaska-Fairbanks earlier this month. The 6-foot, 186-pound defender led the Nanooks defensive corp during his senior campaign with 13 assists and 16 points. Atkinson also ranked fifth overall in team scoring and first in penalty minutes with 82 this season. The Spruce Grove, AB native compiled career totals of eight goals, 40 assists and a plus/minus rating of plus-15 in 144 games for UAF.

Atkinson arrived in Duluth today and has joined the Gladiators in advance of their three game road trip this week starting in Charleston, SC tomorrow evening.
