Solar Bears 2015-16 Opening Night Set for Saturday, October 17

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced their schedule for the 2015-16 season. For the second straight year, Orlando will begin their season at the Amway Center against the Greenville Road Warriors. The 2015-16 season is the fourth year for the Solar Bears in the ECHL, and combined with the six years as an IHL franchise marks the 10th season of Solar Bears hockey in Orlando. The final draft of the schedule will be available sometime in September after the NBA schedule is released.

ALL CURRENT HOME DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

The Solar Bears 36 game regular season home schedule currently features three home games in October, six home games in November, five home games in December, five home games in January, eleven home games in February, four home games in March, and two home games in April.

The ECHL will welcome three new teams next season, as Adirondack (NY), Manchester (NH), and Norfolk (VA) join the league from the AHL. With the addition of those teams, the ECHL has rearranged the divisions for the 2015-16 season. Orlando will now be in the South Division along with the Florida Everblades, Greenville Road Warriors, Gwinnett Gladiators, and South Carolina Stingrays. To see the new divisions, click here. Orlando will face Florida at home eight times and Greenville, Gwinnett, and South Carolina at home four times each, for a total of 20 home games against South Division rivals.

The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, play all of their home games at the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year, the Amway Center.
