Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, three-time Kelly Cup champions, today announced their 13th season of ECHL play will open at Sullivan Arena on Friday, Oct. 16 in a three-game series against the Missouri Mavericks, launching a 72-game schedule featuring nine new opponents and three matchups with three former Kelly Cup Finals opponents.

Season tickets for the 2015-16 Aces season at Sullivan Arena, currently undergoing seat installation and section upgrades, are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting the Aces Store (15th & Gambell), calling 907-258-2237 or visiting alaskaaces.com/tickets. Aces season ticket holders enjoy guaranteed seating, reduced cost compared to individual tickets, exclusive access to an Aces preseason party, and more.

The schedule features nine opponents whom the Aces will face for the first time in club history, along with rematches from three previous Kelly Cup Finals series. The 36-game schedule at home includes 12 games each on Fridays and Saturdays, along with four popular Sunday "Skate With the Aces" dates, presented by Fred Meyer.

All Aces home games begin at 7:15 p.m. with the exception of Sundays, which start at 3:05 p.m.

The Aces open the schedule with a three-game series against the Missouri Mavericks, entering their second ECHL season, at Sullivan Arena on Oct. 16. Back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, 7:15 p.m., will be followed by the first Fred Meyer "Skate With the Aces" Sunday game at 3:05 p.m., concluding the only season series between the teams.

In addition to the Mavericks, Sullivan Arena will also welcome four opponents making their first visit to Anchorage. The Evansville IceMen will visit for a three game series, Nov. 27-29. The Rapid City Rush, advancing in their inaugural campaign to the Kelly Cup Playoffs in 2014-15, make a pair of trips beginning with a three-game series, Dec. 18-20.

The Fort Wayne Komets, winners of nine championships across two leagues, visit Alaska for a three game series, spanning Mar. 9-12. A three game series, Feb.10-13, welcomes the Allen Americans after capturing this season's Central Division title and previous back-to-back Central Hockey League championships.

The traditional New Year's Eve game returns to Sullivan Arena Thursday, Dec. 31 against the Utah Grizzlies, at 7:15 p.m. to open a three-game, three-day series.

The schedule also provides renewed matchups from past Kelly Cup Finals series. The Aces visit the Cincinnati Cyclones, guided by assistant coach and former Aces forward Cam Keith, for their only matchup of the season Tuesday, Nov. 17 at U.S. Bank Arena, the first meeting since the Aces defeated the Cyclones, 4-2 to claim their third Kelly Cup championship last season. A three-game series with the host Gwinnett Gladiators, whom the Aces defeated for the Kelly Cup in 2006, awaits Jan. 9-12 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The South Carolina Stingrays, the only team to defeat the Aces in Kelly Cup Finals history, host Alaska for two games, Jan. 16-17 in North Charleston. The matchup marks the first time the two teams will meet since the Aces were edged by the Stingrays in the 2009 seven-game Finals series.

Missouri, Rapid City, Fort Wayne, Allen, Evansville, the Quad City Mallards, Indy Fuel, Greenville Road Warriors and Wichita Thunder will all make an appearance on the regular season schedule for the first time in Aces history.
