
Snappers Top Rattlers 10-4

Beloit, WI- The Beloit Snappers picked up their third consecutive win Tuesday night at Pohlman Field with a 10-4 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The Snappers collected 13 hits as a team.
The Snappers got off to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Nate Roberts led off with a double to center field. J.D. Williams followed with a bunt down the third baseline, advancing Roberts to third. With runners on first and third, Eddie Rosario hit a sac fly to left field to score Roberts. Williams advanced to second with his 17th steal of the season. Miguel Sano hit a deep fly ball to left field, moving Williams to third. Kennys Vargas then singled to the right side scoring Williams.
Greg Hopkins led of the second inning with a double to left. Carlos George then bunted to third and both runners were safe when Vargas lost Sano's throw to first in the sun. After Rafael Neda walked, Adrian Williams grounded into a double play, scoring Hopkins cutting the Snappers lead to 2-1.
In the bottom of the second, Stephen Wickens scored on Neda's throw to second as Nate Roberts stole, making it 3-1.
In the top of the third with one out, Brandon Macias doubled to center, then Cameron Garfield followed with a single to left. Nick Ramirez scored Macias with a single to right making it 3-2.
Eddie Rosario hit his 9th homer of the season in the bottom of the third increasing the Snappers lead to 4-2.
The Snappers added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Roberts started the inning with a single through the right side of the infield. Roberts scored off Rosario's RBI single. Sano followed with a stand-up triple to score Rosario.
Rosario ended with four RBI's and two runs scored.
The Snappers scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI Single for Tyler Grimes scoring Stephen Wickens. Roberts continued his hitting streak with a triple, which scored Grimes. Williams reached base off an error by the second baseman, Greg Hopkins, which scored Roberts to bring the score to 9-2.
Steven Gruver came in to relieve Tyler Jones who went five innings allowing seven hits and two runs with three walks and three strikeouts.
Grimes led off the seventh with a hard single to right field and advanced to third on Williams hit to first base. Rosario tacked on his fourth RBI, when he scored Grimes with his groundout to second.
Corey Kimes relived Gruver in the top of the eighth. The Rattlers attempted a rally in the top of the ninth scoring two runs off of Kimes. Chadwin Stang doubled scoring Adrian Williams, who walked to leadoff and Stang went on to score on a throwing error by catcher, Matt Koch making it 10-4. Jones picked up his third win with the T-Rats' Eric Semmelhack picking up his first loss.
The Snappers will now hit the road and return home on Saturday, August 11th to take on the Peoria Chiefs, the Chicago Cubs Class-A affiliate. Saturday is a Woodman's mac 'n cheese Saturday, where any fan that brings in a box of mac 'n cheese gets $1 off their ticket. It is also 80's night, so get on your retro gear for a throwback night at the ballpark.
