Snappers Fall; Split Series
June 8, 2008 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
The Snappers were unable to pick up a game in the standings, falling to the Cougars 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. Beloit's David Bromberg picked up the loss, going seven innings and allowing four runs off five hits.
Beloit got rolling in the top of the second inning on an RBI-ground out by Joe Benson. Benson's ground out allowed Chris Parmelee, who was earlier hit by a pitch, to score. Parmelee's run put the Snaps ahead 1-0 after one and a half.
Kane County stormed back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth off Beloit's David Bromberg. The four-run inning put the Cougars ahead 4-1 after five innings.
Chris Cates put another run on the board for Beloit in the top of the sixth inning, on an RBI-single to right field. Chris' single allowed Ben Revere to score and made it a 4-2 ballgame.
Revere drew the Snaps to within one run in the top of the eighth with an RBI-double to right field. Ben's double allowed Mark Dolenc, who earlier singled, to score from first base.
That would be all the runs the Snappers would muster, however, as they fell to the Cougars by a final of 4-3.
Chris Cates had two hits for the Snaps, who fell to 33-30 on the year.
