
Late rally falls short as \'Caps drop game one

MIDLAND - A five run rally in the top of the seventh left the Whitecaps short in a 7-6 loss to Great Lakes in game one of a double header.
Kody Kaiser went 3-for-4 for West Michigan and capped the top of the seventh rally with a three-run homer off closer Miguelez Ramirez, who wound up with his Midwest Leagueleading 13th save. Audy Ciriaco preceded Kaiser in the seventh and hit a two-run single.
Given Kutz pitched the first five innings for the Loons and earned the victory as West Michigan squandered several opportunities.
The Whitecaps put two on with no outs in both the first and second innings but failed to score. The bases were loaded with the âCaps with no outs in the sixth but no one scored.
Manny Miguelez pitched a complete game for West Michigan but took the loss. Alfredo Silverio went 2-for-3 for the Loons had three RBI.
