Snappers Fall Short in Ninth

The Snappers eight game winning streak came to an end Thursday night at the hands of the West Michigan Whitecaps, 3-2. Beloit had the tying run ninety feet away in the bottom of the ninth inning, but was unable to get it home.

The Snappers got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning off the bat of Brian Dinkelman. Dinkelman led the inning off with his fourth home run of the season. Brian's homer gave Beloit a 1-0 lead after one.

West Michigan scored two of their own in the top of the second to take the lead. Beloit battled back and scored again in the bottom of the second on a Greg Yersich sacrifice fly to left. Yersich's sixth RBI of the season tied the game at 2-2.

The Whitecaps took the lead in the top of the seventh on a Deik Scram homer to center. Scram's home run gave West Michigan a 3-2 lead.

The Snappers battled back in the bottom of the ninth inning. Joe Benson tripled to left center to give Beloit a chance to tie the game at 3. One batter later, Beloit's Danny Valencia struck out to end the game.

The loss dropped the Snappers record to 29-15.

Upcoming schedule: The Snappers play game one of four with the Swing of the Quad Cities on Friday night at 6:30 pm at Pohlman Field. Adam Hawes goes for Beloit while West Michigan's starter is TBA.
