Burlington Bees News Release
Burlington, IA (May 24, 2007) - The Kansas City Royals have placed Burlington Bees LHP Brent Fisher on the disabled list. Fisher has been diagnosed with a left rotator cuff strain. RHP Henry Barrera will rejoin the Bees from extended spring training in Arizona.
Fisher is 1-4 with a 5.09 ERA in nine appearances and five starts for the Bees. He also has one save. At 19 years old, he was the youngest player on the Bees' Opening Day roster and was the starting pitcher on Opening Day against Kane County. In 35.1 innings, he has allowed 46 hits and 24 runs (20 earned) while walking 14 and striking out 28. The Royals drafted Fisher in the 7th Round of the 2005 draft and Baseball America has him ranked 10th on the Royals' Top 30 Prospect List coming into this season.
Barrera came to Burlington to be on the Opening Day roster, but was sent back to Arizona before ever appearing in a game. He was ruled to have an illegal delivery and was sent back to Royals camp to work out the hitch in his mechanics. The Royals drafted Barrera in the 5th Round of the 2004 draft and has spent the last two seasons pitching in the Arizona Rookie League. He is expected to be in uniform tonight and available out of the bullpen if necessary.
The Bees wrap up a four-game series against the Great Lakes Loons tonight at 7:00 at Community Field. RH Harold Mozingo (2-5, 4.75) will start for the Bees against LH Clayton Kershaw (4-1, 2.84) of the Loons. Tonight is Thirsty Thursday sponsored by the Sombrero Bar & Grill and Classic Hits KQ92.
