Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Led by a dominating pitching performance, the Beloit Snappers defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods 4-0 Sunday afternoon.

Lou Trivino pitched seven scoreless innings (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER), his best outing of the season and his first scoreless start since April 26 against Burlington (6.0 IP, 6 H, 0 ER).

The Beloit batters provided enough run support as Tyler Marincov and B.A. Vollmuth had impressive afternoons at the plate. Marincov went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI's and is now 5-for-7 in the last two games against Bowling Green. Vollmuth hit his second home run in the last two games and is 4-for-7 in two games against the Hot Rods.

Trivino picked up the win for the Snappers while Sam Bragg recorded the save, as he pitched two hitless and scoreless innings in relief.

The Snappers took an early 1-0 lead just minutes into the ballgame as a Ryan Mathews RBI-groundout sent Melvin Mercedes home from third base. Mercedes led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third base on a Tyler Marincov double.

Beloit extended its lead to 2-0 in the third inning behind a Marincov sacrifice fly that scored Justin Higley from third base. Higley advanced to third base on a triple to right field before scoring in the next at-bat.

Two innings later, the Snappers tacked on an additional run to take a 3-0 advantage. After Higley was walked and stole second base, Marincov smoked a double down the left field line to send Higley across the plate.

B.A. Vollmuth added an insurance run in the eighth inning as he blasted a solo shot home run off the left field scoreboard to give Beloit its final 4-0 lead. The home run was Vollmuth's ninth of the season and second in the last two nights.

The Snappers look to complete the series sweep against Bowling Green Monday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
