SEVIERVILLE, TN - The Tennessee Smokies defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 5-3 on Sunday night at Smokies Stadium. Duncan Robinson was impressive on the mound, allowing just one run to score in six innings, and the Tennessee offense was able to put runs on the board throughout the game.

Tennessee jumped out to an early lead in the second inning. Ian Rice hit a ground-rule double to left field with one out, and Jesse Hodges doubled with two outs to score Rice and give the Smokies a 1-0 lead.

The Lookouts tied the game in the third inning on an RBI-groundout that made it 1-1. Chattanooga scored again on a double play in the fifth inning that gave the Lookouts a 2-1 advantage. Tennessee quickly tied the game, as Eddy Martinez hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth, tying the game 2-2. It was the fifth home run of the season for Martinez.

Charcer Burks reclaimed the lead for the Smokies when he hit a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the fifth inning, making it 3-2 Tennessee. The homer was the third of the season for Burks. Connor Myers, in his first game with the Smokies this season, singled home Eddy Martinez in the sixth to make it a 4-2 game. Myers had spent the previous part of this season in class A Advanced.

The Smokies tacked on another run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Rice doubled and Zack Short scored, giving Tennessee a 5-2 lead. The Lookouts would score one more run on a solo homer in the eighth, but the Smokies would hold on for a 5-3 win.

Duncan Robinson started the game on the mound for Tennessee. Robinson pitched 6.0 innings, allowing one run on six hits and two walks. He also struck out six batters in the win. Robinson was relieved by Scott Effross to start the seventh inning. Effross threw 2.0 innings, giving up one run on one hit. Jake Stinnett pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save.

Tennessee and Chattanooga will play the fifth game of this series on Monday at 7 p.m. The Smokies are expected to send Matt Swarmer (0-1, 5.63 ERA) to the bump as their starting pitcher and the Lookouts will counter with Lewis Thorpe (4-1, 3.93 ERA). Swarmer is coming off 5.0 innings against Mobile in his last start. He has allowed three earned runs or fewer in three of his four starts with Tennessee this season.
