Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Tennessee Smokies third baseman Jason Vosler hit a two-out RBI single to right field in the top of the 10th inning to lift the visitors past the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, 2-1, in front of 2,058 at Community First Credit Union Two-for-Tuesday and Coors Light $2 Tuesday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Jacksonville right-hander Pablo Lopez pitched five scoreless innings to begin the game, extending a 19-inning scoreless streak to begin his Southern League career. He allowed two hits and no walks with six strikeouts.

The Jumbo Shrimp (12-19) took the lead when second baseman Isan Diaz led off the first inning against Smokies right-hander Duncan Robinson with a home run over the right-field bleachers. Robinson shut out Jacksonville for the rest of his seven innings, allowing five hits and three walks with six strikeouts.

The Smokies (17-14) tied the game on catcher Will Remillard's seventh-inning, two-out solo home run to left field off right-hander Jorgan Cavanerio, who pitched two innings in relief of Lopez. Right-hander Jose Pena worked around a walk and hit batter for a scoreless eighth inning, and right-hander Marcus Crescentini (1-4) pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

After Robinson, Tennessee right-hander Craig Brooks (2-0) struck out five batters in perfect eighth and ninth innings. In the top of the 10th inning, with a Smokies runner at second base, left fielder Charcer Burks grounded into a fielder's choice but reached second base on the rundown play. Crescentini's wild pitch moved Burks to third base and walked second baseman Trent Giambrone. Shortstop Zack Short popped out on a foul bunt, but Vosler followed with a go-ahead single to right field.

In the bottom of the 10th inning with a runner starting at second base against Tennessee right-hander Dakota Mekkes, catcher Rodrigo Vigil popped out on a foul bunt. Pinch hitter Skyler Ewing walked, but Diaz struck out, and center fielder Monte Harrison grounded out to end the game. In extra innings, Jacksonville is 0-3, including two losses to the Smokies.

UP NEXT: The Jumbo Shrimp continue their series with Tennessee at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, when Miami Marlins right-hander Elieser Hernandez (0-0) will make his third rehab start for Jacksonville, scheduled to face Smokies right-hander Thomas Hatch (3-1). Gates open at 11 a.m. for a Business Person Special presented by Yuengling. A package of a reserved seat, hot dog, chips and a 16-oz. soda or Yuengling is only $15 at the box office.
