JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster prior to tonight's game against the Tennessee Smokies at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville at 7:05 p.m.
Right-handed relief pitcher Esmerling De La Rosa has been transferred from Jacksonville to High-A Jupiter. De La Rosa has pitched in eight games in relief for the Jumbo Shrimp, going 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in his 14 innings of work.
In a corresponding move, right-handed relief pitcher Chris Mazza has been transferred from Triple-A New Orleans to Jacksonville. Mazza has pitched in seven games for the Baby Cakes, going 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA with 14 strikeouts in his 16 innings of work. Mazza spent all of the 2017 season in Jacksonville's starting rotation, going 4-7 with a 3.01 ERA in 28 appearances and 26 starts. Mazza, 28, is a native of Clayton, California, and was signed by the Marlins as a minor league free agent in 2015.
The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players, plus Elieser Hernandez on his major league rehab assignment from the Miami Marlins and a revised roster is attached.
The Jumbo Shrimp continue their series with Tennessee at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, when Jacksonville right-hander Pablo Lopez (0-0) is scheduled to face Smokies right-hander Duncan Robinson (1-1). Gates open at 6 p.m. for Community First Credit Union Two-for-Tuesday, when tickets are 2-for-1 at the box office for Community First members using a CFCU credit or debit card, and fans can learn about the Jumbo Shrimp VISA® Debit Card on the concourse. Coors Light $2 Tuesday means $1 12-oz. and $2 24-oz. Coors Light. Small sodas are $1 at the concession stands. Breakfast for Dinner - Shrimp and Grits, Fluffy Scrambled Eggs, Fresh Baked Biscuits and Orange Juice - is just $10 at the All-American Jax concession stand. UCF Knight will include the #ChargeOn Tour, with Vice President and Director of Athletics Danny White and Head Football Coach Josh Heupel each throwing ceremonial first pitches. To celebrate the Knights' 13-0 season, if the Jumbo Shrimp win, 13-0, in a regular nine-inning game, one lucky fan will win $13,000.
