Tulsa, OK - The Arkansas Travelers shut out the Tulsa Drillers 6-0 on Saturday night at ONEOK Field.
LHP Nate Smith continued his recent domination with seven more scoreless innings on Saturday. Smith, who boasted a 0.85 ERA in June, made his first start in exactly a month after pitching in the Texas League All-Star Game and for Team USA in the PanAm games. The southpaw allowed four hits with two walks and four strikeouts, and has surrendered only three earned runs over his last 43.2 innings (0.62 ERA).
Arkansas and Tulsa remained 0-0 entering the sixth when 1B Wade Hinkle knocked a two-out RBI single to left to put the Travs up 1-0.
The Travs exploded for five runs in the seventh to open up the advantage to 6-0.
C Anthony Bemboom reached base in all four of his plate appearances, finishing 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
CF Chad Hinshaw also reached base four times with a 3-for-4 night with a double, walk, an RBI and two runs scored.
Hinkle went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk, and has hits in 12 of his last 14 games.
LHP Scott Snodgress worked the eighth and ninth innings to preserve the shutout.
With the win, Arkansas has won three games in a row and remains one game behind the Springfield Cardinals in the second half standings. The Travs are 51-47 overall.
RHP Albert Suarez (7-7, 3.60) will take the mound for Arkansas on Sunday and will be opposed by LHP Julio Urias (1-2, 3.00). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
