Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

FRISCO, TX - Rodney Linares earned his 500th career managerial victory Friday night as his Hooks rolled to a 9-3 triumph over the RoughRiders at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Teoscar Hernandez homered twice in the game, including a three-run shot in the sixth which staked Corpus Christi to a 7-3 edge. Hernandez's fifth blast in the last five games followed a two-out, two-run single from Roberto Pena which erased a 3-2 deficit.

The Hooks put the game on ice in the ninth. Chan-Jong moon seared a single down the left-field line and A.J. Reed belted an opposite-field bomb onto the berm in left-center.

Corpus Christi (14-14, 62-36) has hit three home runs in each of the last three games.

Michael Feliz (4-2) proved to be efficient following a 32-pitch first inning. Feliz, who allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks, fanned five and retired the final seven batters he faced.

Joe Musgrove entered in the sixth and dispatched the next eight Riders (17-10, 46-51). Musgrove, making his second appearance since coming off the disabled list, went on to allow a pair of baserunners to reach. They came courtesy of a two-out walk in the eighth and an infield single in the ninth.

Rehabbing Astro Jed Lowrie played five innings at third base, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI at the plate.

Linares is 500-496 in his first 9 campaigns as a skipper. He won two California League titles over the last three seasons and was named the circuit's manager of the year in 2013.

Kyle Westwood (7-3, 4.20) is slated to start for the Hooks Saturday night. Lefty Victor Payano (3-2, 5.26) will take the hill for Frisco. First pitch 7:05. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
