Madison, WI- Following his 21-save shutout on Saturday against the Green Bay Gamblers, Madison Capitols goaltender Darren Smith (Barrie, Ontario) captured his second USHL/CCM Goaltender of the Week honor in the span of a month. He also took home the honor for the week ending November 23.
The Capitols goaltender and Ferris State University commit has come into his own of late for Madison, winning eight games total, including four of his last five. Smith has only lost one game in regulation since November.
He has been in the net for each of the Capitols' last five road games, all victories. His shutout on Saturday put him in the Madison history books as the first Capitols goaltender to record a shutout.
Smith and the Capitols wrap up the 2014 calendar year with a pair of home games at the Alliant Energy Center on Monday and Tuesday evening against Muskegon and Green Bay respectively.
