Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, IA-It was quite the return to Dubuque for Keegan Ford. After a big weekend, the United States Hockey League announced today that the Ford has been named the CCM Defenseman of the Week for his efforts in wins over Bloomington and Chicago last weekend. The award marks the third time a Dubuque player has received a league honor this season.
Ford finished the weekend with four points in two games, notching three assists in a 6-1 win over Bloomington. He followed up that performance with the game-winning goal in a 5-1 victory over Chicago on Sunday.
Ford rejoined the Fighting Saints earlier this month after departing the University of Wisconsin. Prior to joining the NCAA ranks, Ford played for the Fighting Saints for two seasons, skating in 103 games, scoring five goals and 28 assists for 33 points. Ford helped Dubuque to an Anderson and Clark Cup title in 2012-2013, also won a Bronze Medal at the 2013 Junior Club World Cup in Omsk, Russia with the Fighting Saints.
Ford joins Brett Boeing and Jacob Nehama as Fighting Saints honored by the USHL this season. Boeing was named the CCM Forward of the Week on October 6 and Nehama was the Reebok Goaltender of the Week on November 3.
Dubuque visits Bloomington on Wednesday for a New Year's Eve game that can be heard on Super Hits 106.1 FM. The club returns home this weekend for a pair of home games, hosting rival Cedar Rapids on Friday and Waterloo on Saturday. Saturday's game includes a Noise-Maker Giveaway presented by One Stop Tax and Accounting Services. Tickets are available to both games this weekend by calling 563.583.6880 or online at DubuqueFightingSaints.com.
