Inland Empire 66ers News Release
Lake Elsinore, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino made it two dominant pitching performances in a row as the Sixers downed the Lake Elsinore Storm 7-2 an evening after a 3-0 shutout victory. On Friday it was a pair of lefties, Ryan Smith and Jack Dashwood who each notched personal laurels, that held the Storm at bay.
For the second straight night Inland Empire (5-4) used just two pitchers with the starter logging five frames and the reliever tallying four. Smith (1-0) allowed just one run on the only hit he surrendered, a solo homer to Joshua Mears. Smith struck out eight and walked three to notch his first professional victory. Dashwood went the final four frames, he did allow his first hits and run as pro, but earned his first professional save. Dashwood was struck with a line drive in the contest but remained in the game and retired the final seven batters he faced including fanning the side in the ninth, three of his five Ks. Jeremiah Jackson got the Sixers on the board in the first with a mammoth solo homer, his second of the series and season. Inland Empire also received strong game offensively from LF William Rivera, he went 3-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and two stolen bases. Braxton Martinez and Caleb Scires also chipped in one RBI apiece. The Sixers have taken three of the first four games of the six-game set against Lake Elsinore (6-4). Jesus Lugo (0-1) was tagged with the loss for the Storm who made four errors in the game and have made 15 in the series.
The series continues at Lake Elsinore on Saturday at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live on 66ers.com.
