Frederick Keys News Release
FREDERICK, MD - The Frederick Keys (11-16) battled back from a five-run deficit, but came up short in a 5-4 setback to the Wilmington Blue Rocks (16-12) on Thursday afternoon at Nymeo Field. With the loss, the Keys split a four-game series with their First State rival. Willy Yahn went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, while he finished with eight RBIs over the three-game set.
Trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth, the Keys got on the board thanks to an error by Blue Rocks shortstop Angelo Castellano and a two-run homer by Yahn. It was the UConn product's second home run in as many days and the first two of his pro career.
In the eighth, Frederick made it a one-run game. Following a Cole Billingsley single, Levy hit an RBI double to left-center and eventually scored on a Yahn base hit to right off Tad Ratliff.
Diógenes Almengo kept it a one-run game going to the ninth, but Ratliff slammed the door from there, striking out the side to end the game.
DL Hall struck out the side in the first inning, but struggled over the next few innings. After walking Sebastian Rivero to begin the inning, Brewer Hicklen hit a two-run home run to put the Blue Rocks ahead.
Wilmington doubled this lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Castellano that scored Hicklen from third and a sacrifice fly by Ricky Aracena. Tagged with the loss, Hall (1-1) allowed four runs on four hits over 3.1 innings. He walked four and struck out seven.
His counterpart Daniel Lynch allowed only two runs over seven innings to post his second win in as many starts. Only one run was earned, while he scattered three hits and struck out five. Ratliff worked the final 1.2 innings and did not allow a run to post his seventh save.
The Keys hit the road for a three-game series in Lynchburg beginning on Friday night. Right-hander David Lebron (0-0, 4.11) starts for Frederick against Lynchburg right-hander Eli Morgan (3-0, 1.29). First pitch is at 6:00 p.m. and pregame coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app.
The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
