Slow Start Doesn't Hinder Rockets

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 7-5 on Wednesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, erasing a 3-0 first period deficit to remain undefeated on the season.

After trailing 3-0 to start the second, the Rockets scored six straight goals to take control of the game.

Rockets captain Madison Bowey had two goals and three assists in the win, his first game in front of the Kelowna fans. Bowey now has eight points in just two games for the Rockets after returning from the Washington Capitals training camp.

Nick Merkley and Rourke Chartier each had a goal and two helpers as the Rockets went 3-for-8 on the power play and also scored three short-handed goals.

Cole Martin, Carter Rigby and Tyson Baillie also scored for the Rockets while Jackson Whistle earned his fourth straight win for the Rockets.

5,021 fans watched the game at Prospera Place as Kelowna improved to 4-0-0-0 on the season, heading into another weekend on the road as Kelowna will play Everett on Friday and Seattle on Saturday.

The Rockets are back home next Tuesday night when they host Swift Current.
