Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants would like to congratulate Tyler Benson, Ryely McKinstry and Ryan Kubic on being selected to represent Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. The tournament will run from November 2-8, 2014 in Sarnia, Ontario. Benson played in the World Under-17 Challenge last year as a 15-year-old, suiting up in six games for Team Pacific and tallying one goal. Through four games to start the regular season with the Giants, Benson has two goals and two assists. The Edmonton native was drafted first overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft and will suit up for Team Canada Black at the upcoming tournament.

The Calgary blue liner had 27 points (10 goals, 17 assists) in 45 games last year with the Calgary Buffaloes Midget AAA of the Alberta Midget Hockey League and has suited up in three of the Giants' first four games this season. He will join Benson on Team Canada Black.

Kubic was drafted 39th overall by the Giants in the 2013 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. The native of St. Andrews, Manitoba recorded a 1.40 goals against average and a .947 save percentage in 21 games with the Winnipeg Thrashers Midget AAA of the Manitoba Midget "˜AAA' Hockey League last season.
