YPSILANTI, MI - Ben Barrone's two-run double in the sixth held up as the Sliders swept the Rascals with a 4-3 win Thursday night at Oestrike Stadium. It is the second three game losing streak for River City in 2009.

Midwest (21-22) trailed 3-2 entering the sixth inning, but rallied with two tallies. Bryan Bonner led off with a walk against Tyler Musselwhite, who was replaced by Josh Rose (0-2). Joash Brodin drew a walk from Rose to set the stage for Barrone. The catcher fouled off a bunt attempt and then doubled on a 1-2 pitch to field to give the Slider a 4-3 cushion.

The Rascals (27-17) held two separate leads in game, taking a 1-0 lead in the second. Chris Colton led off with a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Pete Paris.

River City took their second lead in the sixth off Jeff Fischer (3-0). Ryan Groth singled and moved up to second on a Jorge Gutierrez sacrifice bunt. Paris singled to left and the ball went underneath Brodin's glove to plate Groth for a 3-2 advantage.

The Sliders took their first lead in the second inning on a Brodin two run home run, his second of the season.

Jeff Fischer picked up his third win with six innings of eight hit baseball. Fischer allowed three runs (two runs) with two strikeouts and three walks.

Arshwin Asjes pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save for Midwest.

Musselwhite earned a no-decision with five innings of work, allowing three hits on four hits with three strikeouts and five walks.

Rose was tagged with the loss after tossing two innings allowing one run on three hits with three walks.
