AVON, OH - River City broke out the bats and snapped a three game losing streak with an 8-6 victory over the Lake Erie Crushers at All Pro Freight Stadium. It was the first meeting ever between the two teams.

The Rascals (28-17) rode seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings to the victory. River City erased a 3-0 deficit with four in the fourth. Scott Robinson delivered an RBI single to center with runners at the corners. After a Ryan Groth single, Pete Paris drove in a pair with a single to right. Jorge Gutierrez ended the scoring with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Groth from third.

River City added three more in the fifth. JoJo Batten started the frame with a double and advanced to third on a Kevin Reynolds single. Chad Maddox doubled down the left field line, his second of the night, to plate a pair of runs. Robinson collected his second run batted in with a sacrifice fly to deep right field, just missing a home run for a 7-3 lead.

The Crushers (25-20) kicked off the scoring in the second against Chris Ingoglia (5-4), scoring on a double play ball off the bat of Brad Griffiths. Lake Erie pushed the lead to 3-0 on a two run bomb by Luke Hetherington, his sixth of the season.

Ingoglia earned his fifth win, working five innings allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits. The Rascal lefty struck out four and walked only one in the contest.

Lake Erie got as close as 7-6 on another two run home run, this one off the bat of Andrew Davis in the fifth inning.

Jason Lowey allowed a one out triple in the ninth, but retired the side to earn his eleventh save in twelve opportunities.

Batten, Reynolds and Maddox all had two hits in the victory, with Maddox and Robinson each knocking in a pair of runs.

Josh Lowey (2-0) will get the starting nod tomorrow against Kevin Skogley (3-1). First pitch for game two of the series is set for 6:05 p.m.
