Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- The Grand Prairie AirHogs' season-high losing streak hit four games on Monday, as Lee Cruz hit a one-out solo home run in the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie and send the Amarillo Sox to a 5-4 victory in front of 1,150 fans at QuikTrip Park.

Cruz's homer came off righty Dustin Cameron (0-2), and was the only baserunner over the minimum faced by three AirHogs relievers in 5 2/3 innings of work. Grand Prairie (15-9) had a baserunner in each of the final two innings, but Chad Povich (1-1) and Gary Perinar finished the AirHogs off, with Perinar picking up his first save of the season.

Amarillo (9-14) got off to a quick start against Jae Jung, with an RBI double by Chris Nash and a three-run homer by Tim Alberts in the second inning. Jung survived with that score until the fourth, when he was replaced with one out by Bo Schultz, who had a superb outing, retiring all 11 men he faced.

The AirHogs slowly battled back against Sox starter Ryan Mitchell, with a sac fly by Greg Porter and an RBI single by John Alonso cutting the lead in half in the third inning. Porter then turned on the first pitch he saw in the fifth for a two-run home run down the right field line to tie the game. Grand Prairie then stranded two in the fifth and one each in the sixth and seventh - leaving 11 men on in total in the game as the AirHogs were unable to get on top, and Cruz made sure they never did with the blast to left off Cameron.

Notes: The AirHogs out-hit the Sox 10-7...Four AirHogs had multi-hit games...Cesar Nicolas made his return to the starting lineup after missing six games with a bruised elbow. He was 0-for-3 with two hit-by-pitches...The AirHogs have gone 17 2/3 innings without scoring off the opposition's bullpen.
