
Skyhawks shut down in loss

AUGUSTA, N.J. - Quebec's Michel Simard threw a complete game shutout at Skylands Park on Thursday night as Le Capitales snuck by the Sussex Skyhawks 2-0.
Simard gave up just four hits, while walking one and striking out nine, en route to his 12th win of the season. Matt Salvato gave up just two runs over 6.2 innings, but was saddled with the loss for Sussex. Michael Laluna threw 2.1 scoreless innings of relief for the Skyhawks.
Le Capitales were able to break through against Salvato in the bottom of the third when Issael Gonzalez set the table with a single. Goef Tomlinson then doubled, driving home Gonzalez with the game's first run. Quebec added another run in the top of the seventh when Pat Scalabrini doubled and then scored on a Jean-Michel Salvas single to give Le Capitales a 2-0 lead.
Quebec plays at Nashua at 7 p.m. on Friday. Sussex returns to action at Skylands Park on Friday at 7 p.m. against the Atlantic City Surf.
