
Sky Sox walk-off with 8-7 victory over Fresno

Jeff Salazar hit two home runs, including a walk-off solo home run, as the Sky Sox defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 8-7 in front of 4,253 fans at Security Service Field.
Salazar's blast came two innings after he hit an almost identical shot to bring the Sox within a run in the eighth at 7-6. In the ninth, Matt Macri nearly ended the game with a game-tying double that just missed clearing the wall in left-center field. The Sox were unable to bring in Macri and the game went to extra innings tied 7-7. Aft Jim Miller pitched a scoreless tenth, Salazar greeted Fresno Reliever Geno Espineli with a blast down the right-field line, sending a raucous crowd into a wild frenzy and setting off a mob scene at home plate.
Fresno lead the game early, taking a 5-0 lead into the sixth inning. Grizzlies infielder Brett Pill hit two solo home runs and added an RBI single to contribute to the early advantage.
The Sox would battle back, scoring a run in each of the final five innings, including the tenth. Mike Jacobs started the scoring with an RBI double in the sixth. A four-run seventh tied the game at five apiece highlighted by a Cole Garner RBI triple .
RBI singles by Thomas Neal and Edgar Gonzalez would give the Grizzlies a 7-5 lead in the top of the eighth, setting up Salazar's first home run in the bottom of the inning.
Colorado Rockies starter Aaron Cook pitched allowed six runs on eight hits in 7.2 innings of work on a rehab assignment for a broken finger on his pitching hand suffered in spring training.
Jim Miller (4-1, 5.64) picked up the win for the Sox striking out two in a scoreless inning of work. Former Sky Sox Geno Espineli (0-1, 17.05) took the loss allowing Salazar's home run in the tenth.
With the win the Sox improve to 21-29 and have now won two in a row against the Grizzlies who fall to 22-28.
