
Gamel Powers Sounds to Saturday Win

Nashville, Tenn. - Mat Gamel hit two home runs while Josh Butler dealt six shutout innings leading the Nashville Sounds (20-28) to an 8-3 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (21-28) before 8,411 Saturday night at Greer Stadium.
Butler (3-3) allowed two hits and four walks with two strikeouts over six shutout innings for the winning decision for Nashville. RedHawks starter Gustavo Chacin, limited to 49 pitches in his first start of the season, allowed three runs and four hits over two and two-thirds innings in the losing decision.
The Nashville Sounds built an early 5-0 lead beginning with a second inning two-out rally. George Kottaras doubled with two out and scored on a Taylor Green single for a 1-0 score.
In the third inning Brett Carroll singled with two out, followed by an Erick Almonte walk. Reliever Wesley Wright entered and gave up a Mat Gamel three-run home run to right field for a 4-0 Nashville lead.
The Sounds added a fourth inning run against Wright when Caleb Gindl singled in Taylor Green for a 5-0 lead.
After recording only two hits over the first seven innings, the RedHawks got on the board in the eighth inning as Brian Bogusevic belted a three-run home run to left field, cutting the deficit to 5-3.
Nashville answered with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning against reliever Francis Beltran. Gamel led off with his second home run of the game for a 6-3 score. Later in the inning Brandon Boggs and Brett Carroll contributed RBI singles for an 8-3 game.
