Tonight's Game

The Oklahoma City RedHawks continue a four-game series against the Nashville Sounds tonight at 7:05 p.m...The RedHawks lead the season series 6-3, with the teams splitting the series here April 11-14 and Oklahoma City sweeping four games from Nashville May 2-5...Tonight is game 10 of a 12-game road trip, with the RedHawks posting a 4-5 record...The 12-game trip is required because of the Big 12 Baseball Tournament at RedHawks Field at Bricktown, running through Sunday...The RedHawks enter Wednesday in fourth place in the American Southern Division, 8.0 games back of first place Round Rock...The Sounds are fourth place in the American Northern, 7.5 behind first place Omaha...Tonight LH Gustavo Chacin will face Sounds RH Josh Butler...

LH Gustavo Chacin makes his first start of 2011 tonight, after making 18 relief appearances (1-1, 4.64 ERA)...Prior to 2011, Chacin has been a primary starter throughout his career, with 146 minor league starts in 229 appearances...At the Major League level, Chacin has 102 appearances (58 starts) with a 27-17 record and 4.23 ERA...Chacin's best season came in 2005 with Toronto, making 34 starts with a 13-9 record and 3.72 ERA...Against Nashville in 2011, Chacin has made three relief appearances (0-0, 2.45, 1 ER, 3.2 IP)...Nashville starter Josh Butler makes his ninth appearance with a 2-3 record and 5.35 ERA...Butler has two appearances against OKC in 2011 (0-1, 7.88 ERA, 7 ER, 8.0 IP)

The Nashville Sounds scored two runs in the eighth inning for a 3-1 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Friday night at Greer Stadium... Reliever Jim Henderson took the win for Nashville, dealing two perfect frames... Ryan Rowland-Smith was tagged with the loss, giving up three runs and five hits in seven and one-thirds innings...Mark DiFelice saved the game with a scoreless ninth inning... The RedHawks scored first for the sixth consecutive game, on a first inning two-out double by Drew Locke...A Mat Gamel home run in the fourth inning tied the game 1-1...Nashville took the lead on a bases loaded wild pitch by reliever David Carpenter and a Brendan Katin RBI single...

Cancel Streak Over, Contract Purchased

RedHawks catcher Robinson Cancel ended a hitting streak at 17 consecutive games, with an 0x3 game last night...Following the game, the Houston Astros purchased the contract of the veteran catcher, adding him to the 40-man and active rosters following last night's injury to Humberto Quintero... During Cancel's hitting streak, he batted .413 (26x63) with 3 doubles, 2 HR and 7 RBI, starting May 5 through May 26... Cancel's streak was one off the League's best in 2011; Gil Velazquez of Salt Lake has the longest hitting streak in the PCL during 2011 at 18 games from April 11 through May 3...

Friday- The Houston Astros have release IF Joe Inglett...OF Brian Bogusevic has been optioned to OKC from Houston...

Saturday- The Houston Astros have purchased the contract of C Robinson Cancel... C Brian Esposito has been reassigned to OKC from Double-A Corpus Christi

Monday (May 30th) - The Astros are expected to purchase the contract of P Jordan Lyles for a Tuesday start at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

RedHawks Defense Solid

The RedHawks have now posted 13 straight games without an error, increasing the team fielding percentage to .980, the second best in the PCL (Salt Lake .986)... Last night's error by Anderson Hernandez was later changed to a hit for Mat Gamel...The RedHawks have committed the second-least errors in the PCL as well with 35 (Salt Lake 28)...In addition the RedHawks have the second-most double plays in the PCL with 56 (Las Vegas 59)...
