Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

Matt Murton delivered a two-run, walk-off double in the bottom of the eleventh inning as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox rallied to defeat the Nashville Sounds 6-5 on Saturday evening at Security Service Field in front of 4,321 fans.

Sounds catcher Carlos Corporan led off the top of the eleventh inning with a solo home run to dead centerfield, his first of the year, off of reliever Joel Peralta (6-0) to seemingly give Nashville a win. Murton and the Sky Sox would have something to say about that. Nashville closer Ryan Houston (5-4) came on in the bottom half of the inning to close things out and was greeted by a leadoff single by Eric Young Jr. Chris Frey sacrificed Young Jr. to second before Matt Miller singled to put runners on the corners with one out. Murton came to the plate next and lifted a long drive to right field that Corey Patterson seemed to misplay off the wall to plate Young Jr. and allow Miller to scamper all the way around from first to score the winning run.

With the win, the Sky Sox split the four-game series with the Sounds and coupled with a loss by Salt Lake moved increased Colorado Springs' lead over the Bees to 4.5 games.

The Memphis Redbirds come to town tomorrow for a four-game set with RH Alan Johnson (8-5, 5.60) for the Sox taking on RH Adam Ottavino (4-10, 4.62). Game time for Sunday is set for 5:05 PM.
