Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

Not even a day off could cure what has ailed the Colorado Springs Sky Sox bats. A second consecutive one-run performance from the offense resulted in the team's fourth consecutive loss as the Sky Sox fell 5-1 to the Portland Beavers Friday evening at Security Service Field.

The pitching staff did its job on a cool night at the ballpark. Starting pitcher Josh Towers (1-1) surrendered just five runs in his 5 2/3 innings of work. The bullpen trio of Chris George, Matt Daley and Juan Morillo held the Portland offense in check the rest of the evening.

The Portland pitchers, though, were just a little bit more effective. Starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc (2-0) tossed five innings of one-run ball. His only blemish was a two-out double by Sean Barker in the third inning that plated Towers. The Beavers bullpen duo of Enrique Gonzalez and Adam Bass kept the Sky Sox offense off the board in the final four innings.

The Sky Sox travel to Tacoma tomorrow where they will play the first of a four-game set. Righty Jose Capellan (1-0, 3.27) takes the hill against right-hander Joe Woerman (0-1, 15.26). First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM PT.
