Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Pacific Coast League announced their 2011 All-Star roster today and Colorado Springs Sky Sox closer Jim Miller will represent the team at the annual game. The 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game will be played on Wednesday, July 13 in Salt Lake City, UT at Spring Mobile Ballpark, the home of the Salt Lake Bees (Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim).
Miller, 28, will be making his first All-Star appearance at the Triple-A level and his third overall after having also been named to the California League All-Star team in 2005 while playing with Modesto and the Northwest League All-Star in 2004 team while pitching for Tri-City. The Sky Sox closer is currently fourth in the PCL with 11 saves, despite starting the season as a setup man, and is tied for the most appearances by a pitcher in the league with 38. He is also tied for second in games finished with 25. On the season, Miller has posted a 4-3 record with a 5.83 ERA (29er/44.2ip) and has struck out 49 batters while walking just 11 for the second lowest walks per nine innings ratio (1.81) in the league behind fellow Sky Sox reliever Eric Stults (1.77). The righty was originally drafted by the Rockies in the 8th round of the 2004 draft out of the University of Louisiana-Monroe but was traded to Baltimore in 2007 in exchange for Rodrigo Lopez. After pitching four seasons ('07-'10) in the Orioles organization, Miller returned to the Rockies this past offseason by signing a minor league contract with the club. He made his Major League debut with the Orioles in 2008 and went 0-2 with a 1.17 ERA (1er/7.2ip) in eight relief appearances.
