Barden, Davis Selected to Triple-A All-Star Game

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Round Rock Express members Brian Barden and Chris Davis have been named to the Pacific Coast League team for the 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game, the league office announced Wednesday. The Triple-A All-Star Game is Wednesday, July 13, at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is the 24th rendition of the Triple-A All-Star Game.

Barden, 30, was selected to start the game at third base while Davis, 25, will be the third-base reserve.

Barden is currently hitting .360 with seven home runs and 38 RBI. His .360 average is good for sixth in the PCL. Barden was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the sixth round of the 2002 amateur entry draft out of Oregon State University. He has spent time with four organizations over his 10-year career - Arizona, St. Louis, Florida and Texas. This is Barden's first All-Star game selection.

Davis is hitting .374 with 19 home runs and 52 RBI in 33 games with the Express this year. Davis has split the season between Round Rock and the Texas Rangers. This is Davis' fourth all-star game selection. He was selected to the 2006 Northwest League All-Star Game, the 2007 California League All-Star Game, the 2010 Triple-A All-Star Game and the 2011 Triple-A All-Star Game.

Davis was a fifth-round draft pick out of Navarro Junior College by the Texas Rangers in 2006.

Davis and Michael Kirkman were selected to the 2010 Triple-A All-Star for the Rangers' Triple-A Affiliate.

Round Rock returns to action Thursday, opening a four-game series against the Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT at The Dell Diamond. Thursday is Pink in the Park - Saving Second Base night at The Dell Diamond, and fans are encourage to wear pink in support of the Austin affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
