Sky Carp Dominant in 5-0 Victory

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Beloit Sky Carp put together one of their most complete performances of the season Wednesday night, defeating the Quad Cities River Bandits 5-0.
The win, coupled with Peoria being swept by Lake County, brings the Sky Carp back to within three games of a playoff berth.
Beloit out-hit the River Bandits 11-3 and scored all five of the game's runs in the sixth inning.
The Sky Carp pitching staff was particularly effective. Josh White allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings and improved to 1-6 on the season. Kyle Crigger and Caleb Wurster each pitched two scoreless innings, combining for five strikeouts, to close the game out.
Beloit's sixth inning rally began with a one-out walk to Zach Zubia. Jake Thompson followed with single, and Ynmanol Marinez's base hit chased Zubia home with the game's first run.
Jorge Caballero's double brought home another run, and Josh Zamora's two-run single made it 4-0. Joe Mack capped the rally with a base hit to account for the final score.
Javier Sanoja, who collected five hits in a game last week, went 4-for-5 to lead the offensive attack.
The Sky Carp and River Bandits will play again Thursday at 6:35 p.m. Beloit returns home for its final homestand of the season, a 12-game stand that opens on Tuesday, August 22 against Lake County.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
