Asheville Tourists News Release

ROME- The Asheville Tourists were handed their second shutout loss of the week and their sixth straight defeat at the hands of the Rome Braves on Saturday evening. Asheville was blanked 11-0 and finished the game with only one hit. The six-game losing streak matches their longest of the season when the team began the year 0-6.

The Tourists offense only had three balls leave the infield for the entire game; a first inning double by JC Correa and two flyouts to the corner outfielders. Rome's starting pitcher, Roddery Munoz, made it 5-for-5 for Braves' starting pitchers to earn a win this week. The five starters for the home team threw a total of 29 innings and allowed a total of two runs.

Asheville's pitching struggled with walks again. The Tourists surrendered eight more free passes running their SAL leading total to 409 on the season. During the current six-game losing streak, the Tourists have been outscored 45-16.

The Tourists fell to 1-11 in games played on Saturday this year. Asheville will attempt to avoid a series sweep with the finale scheduled for 2:00pm ET Sunday afternoon.
